The Day My Heart Skipped A Beat…

On January 13, 2020, just an ordinary day, I was geared up for my appointment with my uncle, a Diabetologist and Endocrinologist, since my blood sugar levels had been slightly elevated. The Diabetes Care Centre was bustling with activity, being a popular and busy place. Despite the crowd, his team graciously fast-tracked my regular check-up before I met him.

All seemed fine until they checked my blood pressure. The reading was alarming: 269/149. The nurse couldn’t believe her eyes and hurried into my uncle’s cabin. He reprimanded her for not immediately checking my ECG. The ECG results were erratic, showing abnormal heart rhythms.

I had never witnessed my uncle so concerned. He summoned his other specialists into his cabin, creating a rather tense atmosphere. They scrutinized me, bombarding me with questions about my symptoms and overall health. Using a stethoscope, he detected irregular heartbeats, and his expression turned grave. “Akshay, I cannot let you go home! I am admitting you to the ICU and calling your dad immediately.”

His sons, who were also my childhood buddies, swiftly got me admitted to the ICU of Guru Nanak Hospital. The intensive care team conducted numerous tests, informing me that I might need to be under observation for the next four days due to the critical nature of my condition and the possibility of blockages.

My friends, family, and wife visited briefly but couldn’t stay in the ICU. Late at night, my uncle came to reassure me to relax. That night, alone in the ICU amidst other patients, some in comas, fear crept in. My breathing labored, dizzy from medication, and I drifted off to sleep. Around 1 am, I awoke with a sense of dread, ringing the bell for the nurses. They rushed to me, and for a moment, I blacked out. The doctor quickly revived me, stating my blood pressure had plummeted. After ensuring my stability, they advised me to rest.

Alone, I pondered my life, tears streaming down my face, feeling as though my time had come. After composing myself, I whispered to God, “My work here is unfinished. I won’t leave until I fulfill my purpose, but I need your help.”

That night, a vision came to me—a divine light hovering over my heart, as if healing it. I could see and hear Swami Samarth and Sai standing in front of my bed and saying with a huge smile “You are perfectly fine, do not worry!” I drifted back to sleep, waking around 7:30 am for scheduled tests—a 2D Echo for the heart and Renal Doplar for the kidneys. Feeling a wave of relief, I was grateful just to be alive.

As the cardiologist and his team entered to begin the tests, I couldn’t help but notice his changing expressions, sending shivers down my spine. Eventually, he called for an intensivist and had a chat with my uncle. “Doctor, why’s this guy in the ICU? His heart seems perfectly fine!” The intensivist, equally perplexed, exclaimed, “This is bizarre! He was in a bad way last night, with irregular heartbeats. We had to keep him under observation!” “Well, whatever it was, it seems to have cleared up now,” the cardiologist remarked, bidding me luck before departing. My uncle shared my surprise, and we awaited the results of the Renal Doplar.

To our amazement, the Renal Doppler revealed no issues. The nephrologist even marveled at the vibrant colors and healthy state of my kidneys, offering her well wishes. With a clean bill of health, I was discharged on the spot.

Back home, I embraced my wife tightly, overflowing with gratitude for my miraculous recovery. I recounted the vision to her, and to my astonishment, she affirmed seeing the same vision that morning. She too saw Swami healing my heart which had major blockages.

It was undoubtedly a wake-up call for me. It stemmed from neglecting my BP medication, but more significantly, from losing touch with my authentic self. Your heart, the organ that truly understands you and your purpose on this planet, acts as a filter for emotions, enabling us to embrace love, peace, and joy. However, I had burdened mine with fear, anxiety, anger, guilt, and shame, affecting my well-being due to my inability to express myself confidently.

This experience spurred a profound transformation within me. I became dedicated to expressing myself with confidence, addressing emotional hurdles, and adopting emotional regulation. Consequently, I redirected my business focus from leadership development and customer experience to emotional well-being and healing.

Through my journey, of working with diverse individuals, I’ve realized that staying connected to one’s true self and life’s purpose is vital for making a meaningful impact.

Our Vision 2026 is a culmination of divine guidance, my wake-up call, and my extensive experiences. Now, my mission is to assist businesses, professionals, and entrepreneurs in making a meaningful impact through self-awareness and purposefulness.

My message to all is simple: remain aligned with your core self, pursue what you love wholeheartedly, and approach life with gratitude and grounding. You’re destined to live your desired life —stay connected to your heart, and let it guide you toward a fulfilling existence.
