Roots of Inauthenticity: Our Need to Fit in

Roots of Inauthenticity can be traced back to our need to fit in. Being inauthentic is not being bad or evil. It’s just Being Who We Are Not Meant to Be.

Based on messages we receive and our early life experiences we start assuming certain beliefs to be true. “Don’t ever go against the group or you’ll be an outcast!”. “Always respect Authority and Never question them!”. Limiting beliefs, such as these, force us to be a part of a particular group for our survival.

Be it family, friends, or professional circle, we have always felt the need to belong. There is an underlying fear which pushes us to please people, say yes to everything and be available to everyone. There is a deep desire to protect our self-image and be a part of a group just to protect ourselves from loneliness and social isolation.

By making ourselves too available to someone, we are disrespecting ourselves and our needs. It is time, we give up on our need to fit in. It is essential to remember that We Belong to Ourselves, Our Purpose, and this Universe! That is all that matters. Our focus needs to be on building a strong relationship with ourselves first and then with the rest of the world around us!

By Being Authentic, we start respecting ourselves, our time and needs and stop pleasing people. We no longer allow our mind to push us around.

So, the next time, you feel the need to fit in, bring in the awareness and Remind Yourself to Be Who You Are!
