Navigating Life: My 6 Leadership Lessons

Over these past 20 years of my professional life, I have played multiple roles in Customer Experience, HR, Corporate Relationships, People Management, Learning & Development, Personal Development & Transformation, and Leadership Development. These multiple roles allowed me to get closer to my real self and enabled me to peel the layers of my inauthentic self. Observing people and working with leaders allowed me to introspect on my leadership capabilities.

In 2020, I met my Mentor, My Guru, who empowered me to look deeper within myself, pushing me toward realizing my true calling in life. Thus began a journey of deep introspection, breaking myths, and rewriting my life’s story.

I wish to share My 6 Leadership Lessons with you to encourage you to introspect on your life and also seek the opportunity to learn from you if you choose to share your learnings too.

  1. *You Don’t Have to Be a SUPERMAN* – This is something I learned from my ex-boss. He would often encourage me to be conscious of what I was doing and allowed me to make mistakes, learn from them, and grow. I learned that as a leader, you don’t need to have answers to all the questions. You need to hire people more capable than you to help you take your business to the next level. It is about collaborating with like-minded people who will challenge you and enable you to push your limits. You don’t need to be a SUPERMAN – you can be SUPERMAN’s father is what he would say, and this stayed with me!
  2. *Mistakes & Failures are a Boon* – Allow yourself and your people to fail and make mistakes. Empower them to learn from these mistakes and failures and become better and wiser. Mistakes and Failures are a boon, for they teach you humility and self-belief.
  3. *Self-belief is your MASTERKEY* – All you need is to have an unwavering belief in yourself and in your capabilities. This will steer you away from seeking validation from others, stop you from comparing yourself with others, and keep you on your path in life.
  4. *Life is NOT a race* – Life is not a race; we are here for a reason and need to align ourselves with our purpose in life and keep moving forward. There is no one ahead of us or behind us – each one is progressing based on our timelines in life. The focus needs to be on developing ourselves every day to create a meaningful impact in life. Whenever I find myself comparing myself to others, I consciously pull myself back on track.
  5. *Growth is in EMPOWERING Others to Grow* – When you help someone grow in life, you are, in a way, helping yourself grow. As humans, we are naturally inclined towards service-oriented behavior that focuses on enlightening the lives of others. Our egos, negative emotions, and self-limiting beliefs hold us back from helping others. Shedding our egos and releasing negative emotions is what will help us help others GROW and eventually foster a sense of fulfillment and satisfaction.
  6. *FOUR PILLARS of ALIGNMENT* – Here are 4 Pillars that will enable us to create a meaningful impact – Self, People, Purpose, and Prosperity. Prosperity is and will always be a part of our Purpose in life. We need to focus on discovering our core self, collaborate with like-minded people, and keep propelling further in life to create a meaningful impact through our purpose.

Considering the work that I do through SAMAKSH, I resonate, live, and experience the above lessons every day. I work with purpose-driven organizations, professionals, and entrepreneurs, enabling them to create a meaningful impact through self-awareness and purposefulness. *Reach out to know more!*

Hope you find these leadership lessons valuable. What are your leadership lessons – would love to hear from you!
