ĀTMAN: Aligning Your Inner Self

Rajeev Kohli is the Chief Sales & Marketing Officer at a real estate firm. The past three months have been rough. He’s going through a divorce, faced a salary cut due to low sales, and, being one of the higher-paid employees, was forced to take a pay cut by his boss. On top of that, he has been dealing with rude, adamant, and arrogant clients.

Today was no different.

He had just stepped out of a heated argument with a particularly difficult client—the CFO of a Product Management company—who refused to pay the agreed commission, despite Rajeev’s team securing the best deal for them. The situation escalated when the CFO threatened legal action against Rajeev’s firm. In a fit of rage, Rajeev retaliated, exchanging harsh words and even abusing the client over the call.

It was out of character for him.

Rajeev had always been a soft-spoken man. He had married his college sweetheart, Priyanka, a strong-willed woman and CEO of a film production company owned by her father. But Priyanka constantly made him feel like he could have done so much more if only he were more ambitious.

Despite his achievements—a high-paying job, an upcoming promotion to CEO, and a solid reputation in the industry—his personal struggles and some questionable decisions had knocked him off track, both personally and professionally.

Lately, he felt mentally drained and foggy. The once witty, strategic, and sharp business leader now found himself struggling to contribute in meetings. His team and second-in-command had started taking charge in discussions, pitying him for the state he was in.

The company was suffering. Things had to change.

Finally, the CEO dropped the bombshell—either get back in shape or step down. He had one month to turn things around.

Rajeev needed this job. But more than that, he needed the promotion—his entire career depended on it.

A Breakdown at Midnight

On his way home, Rajeev stopped at Shivaji Park Beach.

It was 11:45 PM—the beach was deserted. He parked his car, stepped out, and walked towards the waves. As the cold water touched his feet, tears rolled down his face.

He looked up at the sky and cried out to God.

“Either end my problems or show me the way!” he pleaded.

“Why is this happening to me? Everything was going well, and now my life is falling apart. Why, God, why me?”

“Funny, isn’t it?” came a voice beside him. “We never ask God these questions when life is good. We just go with the flow. We don’t say ‘life happens to us’—we say ‘life is happening for us.’”

Startled, Rajeev turned to see a strange man standing next to him.

“Wh-who the hell are you?” Rajeev stammered.

“Haha, don’t worry! I’m not a ghost. I am TAO,” the man replied. “I’ve been watching you from a distance, waiting for the right moment to talk.”

“I need my space. Please leave me alone,” Rajeev said bluntly.

“Rajeev, I completely understand what you’re going through. I’ve seen someone else struggle just like you—lost, broken, and drained. But he was lucky. He found a Guru who helped him clear his mind and reconnect with himself. That man went on to build a successful Holistic Wellness company.”

Rajeev wasn’t in the mood for stories.

“Listen, I don’t want to hear any of this. I just need space—period!” he snapped.

“I get it, Rajeev. All I ask is five minutes.”

Reluctantly, Rajeev nodded. He had no other option.

The Wake-Up Call

TAO gestured for Rajeev to sit on a rock nearby.

“Rajeev, your life is like a car that’s completely out of tune,” TAO explained. “Your divorce, losing a loved one, and now being forced to step down—why do you think it’s all happening at once?”

Rajeev looked at him, puzzled.

“The Universe is asking you to realign with your core self—your ĀTMAN (soul). Your mind and body are in complete disarray. You’ve been holding on to emotional pain for too long, and it’s blocking your growth. It’s time to let go.”

TAO continued, “Here’s what you need to do:”

8 Steps to Realignment

1️⃣ Reflect on your life. You’re not living your full potential. You’re confident, capable, and strategic—own that. Stop letting others dictate your worth.

2️⃣ Take back control. You own your life—don’t let your situation drive you. You know your path. Keep moving.

3️⃣ Let Priyanka go. Your time together served its purpose. You’re not less than her, you’re different. Set yourself free.

4️⃣ Stop equating business struggles with personal failure. Keep believing in your abilities. Sell only what you truly believe in.

5️⃣ Change your perspective. Business will pick up, but only when you shift your mindset from survival to growth and impact.

6️⃣ Take a month off. Cut ties with Priyanka amicably. Love will find you again when the time is right.

7️⃣ Focus on your strengths. The Universe has been working for you, not against you. Recognize your achievements.

8️⃣ Change your Thought-Feeling-Action cycle. Once you shift the way you think, feel, and act, clarity will replace confusion, and you’ll regain control over your emotions—and your life.

A New Beginning

“That’s all you need to do,” TAO said, standing up. “Now, go home. It’s already 2 AM.”

Before leaving, he handed Rajeev a business card.

“Call this man. His name is Partho. He runs SAMAKSH Holistic Wellness. He recently launched a program called ĀTMAN: Aligning

Your Inner Self for emotional cleansing and healing. It might help you realign.”

Rajeev took the card and turned toward his car. Then, a strange thought hit him.

“Wait… how did he know my name?”

He spun around to ask, but TAO had vanished.

As Rajeev read the card, he noticed something at the bottom:

“Based on the teachings of TAO.”

Was he a ghost? An angel? A guide?

Rajeev didn’t know. But one thing was clear—the Universe had answered his call.

He sat in his car, feeling lighter than he had in months. Tomorrow, he would call Partho. It was time to start fresh.
